Patria Delivers Two Helsinki-class Fast Attack Craft To Croatian Navy

The Croatian Navy took delivery of two second-hand Helsinki-class fast attack craft at a ceremony in Finland's Pansio naval base on 13 October. An official of the Finnish Ministry of Defence told Jane's that Croatia was paying just over EUR4 million (USD5.5 million) for the Kotka and Oulu. Export licenses were granted to Finland's state-owned armaments manufacturer, Patria, in June. Under the sale contract, which was signed in July, the company will also maintain the 45 m, 300-ton vessels and train their new Croatian crews. Patria was instructed to facilitate the transaction because neither the Finnish Navy nor the ministry had the necessary resources, the official said.
