South Korean naval shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has announced strong increases in both revenues and profits in FiscalYear 2009. In a filing to the Korean Stock Exchange on 8 February 2010, DSME said revenues climbed 12 per cent year-on-year to KRW12.4 trillion (USD10.65 billion) and net profit increased 43 per cent to KRW578 billion.rnRussia's Sevmash shipyard needs an additional 500 workers to tackle a backlog in submarine production orders. Nikolai Kalistratov, the general director of Sevmash, told Russia's Military Industrial Commission that despite a recent increase of 2,000 production workers it was not enough to complete work on the Russian Federation Navy's Yasen-class (Project 885) attack submarine and Borey-class (Project 955) ballistic missile submarine programmes.
