UK sets out plans for GSA8 replacement

Originally manufactured by what was British Aerospace Systems and Equipment, the GSA8 provides EO fire control for the Mk 8 Mod 1 4.5-inch (114 mm) medium-calibre gun system fitted to Type 22 Batch 3 frigates and Type 23 frigates. However, the system, based on 1980s technology, is now suffering from obsolescence, prompting the Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) organisation's International Guns, Missiles and Rockets team to solicit industry interest in a replacement or substantive upgrade.
