Boeing has withdrawn from the Mari-nette Marine Corporation (MMC)-led industry team competing to provide the US Navy (USN) with its future air-cushion landing craft. Instead, Lockheed Martin has signed up as a new partner for MMC In its long-standing bid for the navy's Ship to Shore Connector (SSC) programme. Boeing decided to bow out of the MMC-led Team SSC - which also includes Oceaneering International and Griffon Hoverwork - in mid-June, Terrance Etnyre, MMC's vice-president of government programmes, told Jane's that the group has now contracted Lockheed Martin to supply command, control, communications, computers and navigation (C4N) systems for the proposed craft, in addition to training and simulation suites for the Team SSC bid, Etnyre said.
