The second of three SIGMA light frigates on order for the Royal Moroccan Navy was commissioned at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding's Vlissingen yard in the Netherlands on 23 March. The 98 m-long Sultan Moulay Ismail is to complete three weeks of safety training in Den Helder and the North Sea before departing for Morocco. The US Coast Guard has awarded Fincantieri a contract worth about USD90 million for 40 more Response Boats -Medium (RB-Ms). Fincantieri's US subsidiary, Marinette Marine, will build 20 craft at its ACE Marine facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin, with the remainder built by Kvichak Marine Industries in Kent, Washington state.
