BAE Systems Maritime - Naval Ships has downselected three companies to develop the Combined Diesel Electric or Gas Turbine (CODLOG) propulsion system for the UK Royal Navy's (RN's) Type 26 Global Combat Ship. As announced at the DSEI defence and security exhibition in London on 11 September, Rolls-Royce has been selected as the design partner for gas turbines; David Brown Gear Systems Ltd will develop the gearbox; and MTU will deliver the diesel generator sets. All three companies have been contracted to support detailed design work under Design Development Agreements.
