Make or break year?: the US Navy's LCS programme in 2014

From a perch atop the snowy bank of Wisconsin's frozen Menominee River on 18 December 2013, the US Navy's (USN's) fifth Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) slid sideways down into the icy water. The launch of LCS 5 Milwaukee, coming only days after LCS 6 Jackson hit the water on the southern US coast, signalled the official arrival of the LCS programme's serial production ships.
