Israel Aerospace Industries offers 'smart' 122 mm rocket and 2-D artillery fuze

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) released preliminary information on its new Strikes guided rocket and Top Gun course-correcting fuze for 155 mm projectiles at the Eurosatory 2010 defence exhibition.rnLike the company's LORA and Jumper tactical missiles, Strikes uses rear-mounted steering surfaces. Being developed as an upgrade for the widely used 122 mm unguided artillery rocket -a weapon not used by the Israel Defence Forces - Strikes is aimed at the export market. Existing unguided rounds can be upgraded by unscrewing the warhead and fitting a new GPS/INS-based guidance system between the warhead and the rocket motor.
