The first round of flight-testing of Northrop Grumman's Guardian Directional Infrared Counter Measure (DIRCM) system aboard a KC-135 aircraft of the US Air National Guard's 190th Air Refueling Wing (ARW) has been completed, the company announced on 8 March, Doug Richardson reports. "To date we have conducted airworthiness flight tests and several air-refuelling test sorties. The feedback from the pilots has been overwhelmingly positive," said Colonel Keith Lang, commander of the 190th ARW. He continued:"The KC-135 has flown in harm's way since [the] Vietnam [War] and the time is right to add this extremely important defence capability."
