Lockheed Martin has scored a hit on a main battle tank at a range of 6 km in a company-funded, firing of its Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM).rnConducted at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, on 17 November, the test used a production-representative missile to demonstrate the ability of the imaging infrared (IIR) sensor in the missile's cooled tri-mode seeker to lock on to a stationary main battle tank before launch at extended range.rnFollowing launch of the missile from a static Hellfire M299 launcher, the IIR sensor guided the missile to a lethal hit. Concurrently, the seeker's millimetre wave sensor detected and tracked a moving main battle tank positioned in the background and about 200 m from the target vehicle.
