Russian heavy ICBM is unlikely before 2022

Liquid-propellant heavy intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) intended to replace the current R-36M2 (SS-18 'Satan') is unlikely to enter service before 2022. Andrey Goryayev, deputy general director for strategic systems at NPO Mashinostroy-eniye - which designed the current RS-18M (SS-19 'Stiletto') ICBM, told reporters in Moscow on 8 May that this is effectively the earliest the new ICBM could be ready.
