US Army to move ahead with LM's JAGM

The US army will not award Raytheon Missile Systems a contract for the remainder of the Technology Development (TD) phase of the Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM) programme, IHS Jane's has learned. The army will, however, continue to execute the Lockheed Martin contract through the remainder of the TD phase, US Army Colonel James Romero, the project manager for the Joint Attack Munitions Systems, told IHS Jane's during a 17 July interview at the Pentagon. "A funding shortfall was the primary catalyst for the decision," Col Romero said. JAGM is facing a USD36 million shortfall, USD33 million in congressional rescissions, and another USD3.3 million reduction as a result of the across-the-board budget cuts known as sequestration, he explained.
