Saab's Sea Wasp remotely operated vehicle (ROV) - made by the Swedish company's underwater systems business unit - is designed to counter waterborne improvised explosive devices (WBIEDs).Saab is approaching delivery of the first production-standard (Mk 1) units to the initial customer, the Royal Netherlands Navy, following an April 2020 contract award.Three prototypes are, meanwhile, on trial with the US Navy and US law enforcement agencies under a US cross-government Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO) initiative.For the Mk 1, the company enhanced the Sea Wasp's capability and performance, Chris Lade, Saab Seaeye's UK defence sales, marketing, and business development manager, told Janes.
