Usmc Procures Lighter, More Agile Mraps

Navistar has secured a deal to supply the US Marine Corps (USMC) with a lighter, more agile variant of its MaxxPro Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, writes Ben Goodlad. Under the USD752 million contract Navistar will produce 822 MaxxPro Dash MRAPs that have been specifically modified for Afghanistan. According to Navistar, the vehicle is 5,000 Ib (2,267 kg) lighter and has 20-30 per cent better mobility than the original MaxxPro, without compromising the level of protection offered.
