France Launches Battle Management System As Army Digitisation Advances

The French Army is planning to deploy its production SIT (Sys-teme d'lnformation Terminal) V1 platform battle management system (BMS) to Kosovo in mid-2008 with elements of one of its light armour battalions, the 1 er Regiment de Spahis (1 RS). The battalion-equivalent 1 RS, based at Valence, is part of the 6e Brigade Legere Blindee (6 BLB), one of two French Army brigades currently in the process of being digitised. 6 BLB is due to undertake its digitisation certification exercise in September 2008, and the objective is for the whole army to have been similarly certificated by late 2015.
