UK Tornado performs integration trials of Terma self-defence pod

BAE Systems has begun integration trials of the Terma Advanced Infrared Protection System (AIPS) pod on the Panavia Tornado GR.4 strike aircraft at its Warton facility.rnCompany developmental aircraft ZG 773 was photographed during the trials in March with the AIPS pod mounted on the outer pylon of the port wing.rnThe AIPS, which takes the form of a supersonic-rated Modular Countermeasures Pod (MCP), a Tactical Data Unit (TDU) and an AN/ALQ-213(V) Electronic Warfare Management Unit (EWMU), has been designed specifically for use with the UK Royal Air Force's (RAF's) GR.4 aircraft.
