AirMule resumes flight trials with new sensors

The Israeli-developed resupply and casualty-evacuation AirMule aircraft resumed flight-testing in early May after a four-month struc tural upgrade programme, writes Gareth Jennings. Following the upgrade, the wingless aircraft is now flying with an expanded sensor suite and its skids have been replaced with energy-absorbing wheeled landing gear, according to manufacturer Urban Aeronautics. Aerodynamic improvements have also been made to the vehicle's lower fuselage to improve its control response in gusty wind conditions. "Initial results from the tests look very promising," the company said.
