Saab has received two orders worth an aggregate SEK454 million (USD73.5 million) to upgrade the combat management, surveil lance, fire control and tactical data exchange systems on board the Royal Thai Navy's (RTN's) two Type 25T Naresuan-class frigates, writes Richard Scott. The contracts encompass the modernisation of the two Chinese-built ships - HTMS Naresuan and HTMS Taksin - with Saab's 9LV Mk 4 combat management system, the Sea Giraffe AMB G-band multibeam surveillance radar and CEROS 200 radar/electro-optical weapon control system. Saab will also supply TactiCall datalink equipment to the vessels, which will enable communication between the frigates and the Royal Thai Air Force's Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighters and Saab 340 ERIEYE airborne early warning and control aircraft.
