Power assist: EMALS era dawns for a new generation of carriers

In late 2011 the Electromagnetic Systems Group of General Atomics marked a significant programme milestone with the delivery of the 12th and final energy storage system motor generator for the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) to be installed on board Gerald R Ford (CVN-78), the US Navy's (USN's) first-of-class CVN-21 class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
