US flies two Minuteman ICBMs in three days

The US Air Force has conducted two test launches of unarmed LGM-30G Minuteman Ⅲ intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) in three days as a part of the system's operational test and evaluation programme, which provides data to evaluators and demonstrates the reliability of the US ICBM fleet. Randomly selected from the operational missiles deployed at F E Warren Air Force Base (AFB) in Wyoming, and fitted with range-safety hardware and a test re-entry vehicle, the first was launched from Vandenberg AFB, California, on 23 March. The launch team worked under the direction ofVandenberg's 576th Flight Test Squadron and included airmen from the 90th Missile Wing at Warren AFB.
