Raytheon pursues tactical hypersonics

The Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded Raytheon USD20 million to continue development of the Tactical Boost Glide (TBG) programme, the company announced in late April. TBG is a Joint DARPA/US Air Force (USAF) effort to develop and demonstrate technologies for tactical-range hypersonic boost-glide systems. The programme's goal is to accelerate a weapon to Mach 5 or greater and to allow it to glide to its target.
