Russian airborne forces to receive new SPRUT

A further development of the Volgograd Machine Building Joint Stock Company's (JSC) 2S25 SPRUT-SD 125 mm self-propelled anti-tank gun (SPATG) is currently undergoing trials in Russia, IHS Jane's has learned. The original 2S25 SPRUT-SD was developed to meet Russian air assault unit requirements, but was only deployed in small numbers, with some sources giving a total production run as low as 15-25 units.
