Senior military commanders from across NATO have described the practical challenges and opportunities facing the armed forces as developments in cyberspace continue to advance across the contemporary operating environment. Speaking at RUSI's Second International Cyber Symposium in London, cyber specialists from Canada, France, and the United Kingdom highlighted how critical cyber capabilities had become, with one senior official proclaiming it to be a "non-discretionary element of warfare in the future". Major General James Hock-enhull, the director of Cyber Intelligence and Information Integration (DCI3) at the UK's Joint Forces Command (JFC) was joined by Vice Admiral Arnaud Coustilliere, the commander of the French Ministry of Defence's Cyber Command and Brigadier Gen Paul Rutherford, the director general of Information Management Operations for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
