SM-2 production re-starts to meet international demand

Raytheon Missile Systems has been contracted by the US Navy (USN) to restart production of the Standard Missile-2 (SM-2) area air-defence missile for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has awarded Raytheon a fixed-price-incentive firm, firm-fixed-price and cost-plus-fixed-fee contract worth up to USD652.7 million for procurement of Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 SM-2 full-rate production requirements and spares for US and allied foreign navies, including production requirements for the navies of Australia, Japan, the Netherlands, and South Korea. The contract covers the manufacture of both SM-2 Block IIIA and Block IIIB All-Up-Rounds; Block IIIB missiles will account for more than 90% of offtake.
