USN reveals JMEWS upgrade plan for Tomahawk Block IV

The US Navy (USN) is advancing plans to introduce a multi-effect -warhead into the RGM/UGM-109E Tomahawk Block IV cruise missile as part of the weapon's mid-life recertification. In a pre-solicitation notice published on 8 December, the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) outlined the requirement for fiscal year 2019-23 (FY 2019-32) Joint Multiple Effects Warhead System (JMEWS) Engineering and Manufacturing Development over a 44-month period. The intention is that Raytheon Missile Systems will be sole-sourced for the design, integration, testing, and evaluation of JMEWS kits to be installed in Tomahawk Block IV All-Up-Round missiles.
