Cartel violence spreads to Mexico City with attempted killing of police chief

Garcia Harfuch was wounded in an attack on his car by more than two dozen gunmen in downtown Mexico City; two police officers and a passerby were killed, and 12 people were subsequently arrested. Garcia Harfuch tweeted afterwards that the attack was the work of the CJNG, which is the most powerful and dangerous cartel in Mexico after the splintering of the infamous Sinaloa Cartel.
