Commercial satellite imagery made available to IHS Jane's by DigitalGlobe has confirmed the construction of a new air base in northeastern China over the past year.rnThe satellite imagery, dating from August 2009, shows the development of a major air base over a 10-month period on China's northeastern Bohai Sea coast, 20 km south of the city of Huludao, Liaoning province.rnThe August 2009 image revealed the boundaries and foundation of the base under construction. The site at this point was little more than a 3,500 m by 1,600 m area, with hundreds of engineering vehicles grading and forging trenches for cables.
