The Brazilian Navy achieved a major milestone on 24 June when an AH-15B anti-surface warfare (ASuW) helicopter (the local designation for the Airbus Helicopters H225M ASuW aircraft) fired its first MBDA Exocet AM39 Block 2 Mod 2 anti-ship missile. The launch, against the hull of the former corvette Cv Jaceguai, served to test and validate the missile operation and onboard sensors in a live scenario. Five AH -15Bs will be received by the navy's Pegasus Squadron for operation from the ships NAM Atlantico and NDM Bahia. The AH-15B features the Atech/ Airbus NTDMS mission system, Tele-phonics APS-143C(Ⅴ)3 radar, FUR Systems Star SAFIRE Ⅱ sight, and Saab IDAS-3 self-protection suite, and can carry two missiles.
