Myanmar Navy unveils its first submarine

The Myanmar Navy (MN) unveiled its first-ever submarine, a Russian-built diesel-electric 'Kilo'-class boat purchased from the Indian Navy and renamed Union of Myanmar Ship (UMS) Minye Theinkathu, on 15 October. Photographs showing the Project 877EKM-class boat participating in an annual fleet exercise - attended by the Myanmar armed forces' (Tatmadaw's) commander-in-chief, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing - were released the same day by the Tatmadaw's information arm.
