Russians training FACA special forces

Russian instructors are training special forces personnel of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA), according to a report by the UN Secretary-General's office dated 17 June. It said that an unspecified number of FACA members who are part of an unidentified special forces unit "graduated from specialist training given by Russian trainers" on 3 May. The UN has previously confirmed that Moscow has established a parallel effort to the EU Military Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM-RCA), mainly using Russian contractors, to arm and train FACA and Presidential Guard personnel, but this is the first time it has acknowledged that the former include special forces soldiers.
