Missile Defense Agency budget supports Aegis, undeterred by recent test failure

Despite a recent ballistic missile defence test failure with a Standard Missile (SM)-3 Block IIA variant, the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) is continuing to prioritise US Navy ships and facilities equipped with the Aegis combat system.The MDA requested USD1.8 billion in fiscal year 2019 (FY 2019) for the Aegis ballistic missile defence (BMD) system and this includes sustaining the deployed SM-3 inventory.
