New machine gun sought by US Special Forces

US Navy representatives at the Naval Surface Warfare Division at Crane, Indiana, are currently conducting tests of a new machine gun to be utilised by elements of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Under the Lightweight Machine Gun (LMG) solicitation description, Crane representatives identify USSOCOM interest in a belt-fed 5.56mm weapon weighing no more than 13 lb (5.9kg) and no more than 44in(112 cm) long.
