Sea Power 21 to change face of US Navy

The US Navy (USN) is developing a new operational construct that will allow it to become increasingly integrated and networked, both among its constituent components and as part of the larger joint force, the service's senior officer said last week. Announcing the new concept, called Sea Power 21, Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm Vernon Clark said the concept would "fully integrate naval forces into the joint team across the full expanse of a unified battlefield". Navy Secretary Gordon England voiced his support for the idea, saying "Sea Power 21 provides for current readiness and sets a course to transform our navy".
