Saab, Tenix win contract for ANZAC frigate upgrade

Australia has taken the first major step in its ANZAC-class frigate anti-ship missile defence (ASMD) programme with the award of a A$260 million (US$ 211 million) contract to the ANZAC Ship Alliance. The contract, announced on 10 May by Defence Minister Robert Hill, involves the "high-priority aspects of the upgrade" and should, he said, be seen as the first phase of the overall A$500 million ASMD project originally announced in December 2003.
