Rockwell Collins breaks with tradition in its quest to meet growth target

Greg Churchill said that, while the total defence market worldwide is likely to grow at around 4 per cent over the coming year, defence electronics is likely to grow at 5 per cent, Rockwell Collins Government Systems, which special- ises in defence electronics, is aiming to grow at 8 per cent. Churchill said this would be achieved through capturing market share from competitors. However, the company will also expand into non-traditional areas - ground vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and infantry markets. Its acquisition of Athena Technologies in April this year will increase its involvement in the UAV market, he said.
