BAE Systems casts doubt over 643 jobs at Insyte

BAE Systems is considering cutting 643 jobs at eight sites within its Integrated Systems Technologies (Insyte) unit in the UK, arguing that the move follows a "detailed review of the current and future workload requirements" of the business.rnThe cuts - if carried through -would account for just over 17 per cent of the 3,719-strong Insyte workforce in the UK. BAE Systems said a "consultation" process has begun.rnThe cuts are earmarked at the following sites: Portsmouth (220 losses or 19 per cent of the site's workforce); Chelmsford. Essex (86 jobs/24 per cent); Christchurch, Dorset (23 jobs/7 per cent); Cowes on the Isle of White (125 jobs/32 per cent); Filton, Bristol (10 jobs/8 per cent); Frimley, Surrey (99 jobs/18 per cent); Hillend, Fife (52 jobs/15 percent); New Maiden (22 jobs /7.5 per cent); plus five jobs at other undisclosed locations.
