More details have emerged about the contents of the contracts signed between Russia and Libya as part of a massive modernisation of the North African country's air capability.rnInterfax reported on 19 October, citing a military-diplomatic source, that Libya was planning to buy between 12 and 15 Sukhoi Su-35 and four Su-30 multirole fighters as well as six Yakovlev Yak-130 advanced ]et trainer/light attack aircraft, under a deal worth around USD1 billion.rnThe deals were "practically ready for signing; it remains to settlernfinancial issues", the source was quoted as saying by Interfax.rnContract progress was made during the recent Libyan Aviation Exhibition, held from 5 to 8 October near Tripoli. At the time, the deputy general director of Russia's state export arm, Rosoboro-nexport, said that contracts had been signed for air, sea and land assets, as well as missile defence systems. He added that Libya had provided guarantees on three of the contracts.
