Israel successfully launched its Ofeq-9 surveillance satellite on board a Shavit launch vehicle (SLV) on 23 June from Palmachim Air Force Base, south of Tel Aviv.rnThe satellite entered its orbit between 300 km and 600 km above earth. It can complete an orbit of Earth every 90 minutes.rn"The Ofeq project opens new horizons for the State of Israel," Defence Ministry Director General Udi Shani said following the launch. "The deployment of the new satellite alongside other Israeli satellites already in space will provide the defence establishment with intelligence information that will significantly contribute to the state's security."
