UK brings Recce UUV into service

The UK Royal Navy (RN) has completed acceptance trials of a new Reconnaissance Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (Recce UUV) capability and brought the system into service with its Fleet UUV Unit.rnUndertaken at the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre (BUTEC) range in Scotland, these trials confirmed that the system met RN performance requirements.rnHydroid, a subsidiary of Kongs-berg, was awarded a GBP5.5 million (USD7.6 million) contract by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) in August 2007 to deliver a Recce UUV capability based on a customised variant of its REMUS 600 autonomous underwater vehicle.
