UK Apaches conduct maritime firings

British Army AgustaWestland/ Boeing WAH-64D Apache AH.1 attack helicopters have conducted their first live-firing mission from a Royal Navy (RN) warship, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 13 May. During the mission, which was part of an exercise near Gibraltar dubbed 'Cougar 11', Apaches operating from the helicopter carrier HMS Ocean engaged simulated targets with their nose-mounted 30 mm chain gun and AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-surface missiles. The MoD did not disclose if the targets were located at sea or on land.
