As the USN mulls options for its longer-term OASuW needs, a joint programme run by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) is planning to next year begin testing of a prototype Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) designed to prove a series of leap ahead' technologies directly relevant to a next-generation anti-ship capability.These high-fidelity, end-to-end flight tests are intended to demonstrate sufficient maturity to support rapid transition to operational use.
