Italy becomes launch customer for MC-27J gunship

The Italian Air Force (Aero-nautica Militare Italiana - AMI) was named as the launch customer for the Alenia Aermacchi MC-27J gunship during the Dubai Airshow on 18 November. Representatives from Alenia, ATK, the Italian government and the AMI signed a letter of intent for an initial three C-27J Spartan transport aircraft to be modified to accept the palletised gunship kits by the end of 2016. A further three C-27Js will be converted and delivered back to the AMI in the same timeframe.
