Taiwan admits conscript's death affects plans for all-volunteer force

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence (MND) has admitted that the recent suspicious death a conscripted army corporal will affect moves towards an all-volunteer armed forces by 2015. Hung Chung-chi, 24, died on 4 July: a day after being released from military confinement at the 269th Army Brigade's Taoyuan County base. He had been transferred there by his unit, the Hsinchu County-based 524th Armor Brigade, on 28 June and charged with being in possession on base of a camera-equipped mobile phone.
