Afghan President Hamid Karzai has asked India to boost its assistance to the Afghan National Army (ANA) ahead of US and NATO forces pulling out of his war-torn country next year. In talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pranab Mukherjee on 21 May, Karzai - on his 12 th visit to India since assuming office in 2001 - requested enhanced bilateral military ties and assorted materiel for the ANA.
