Somali, AU leaders laud success of ops against Al-Shabaab

A briefing by Somali officials and officers from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has highlighted the successes achieved against the militant group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen in 2014. Maps displayed during the joint briefing on 27 October showed that most of the south and centre of the country was controlled by Al-Shabaab at the beginning of the year and that this area has been reduced by more than 50% by Operations 'Eagle' and 'Indian Ocean'.
