Taiwan debuts new kit at 'Han Kuang' drills

Taiwan's armed forces unveiled new equipment, the largest maritime live-fire drill in a decade and used civilian aircraft for the first time in the annual 'Han Kuang' exercise, held from 15-19 September. On 16 September the Republic of China Air Force (RoCAF) landed a Lockheed Martin F-16A/B,an F-CK-1 (Ching Kuo) Indigenous Defence Fighter, and a Dassault Mirage 2000-5 on a section of the National Freeway No. 1 (Sun Yat-sen) Freeway in the south of the island. A RoCAF E-2K airborne early warning aircraft also took part in the emergency take-off and landing drill for the first time.
