摘要

India's government has opted to strike a balance between rectitude and national security with regard to blacklisted overseas materiel suppliers under investigation for wrongdoing and corruption. "The issue has been discussed at length in the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD). There is a consideration of probity, but it also narrows our buying options, which could affect our security preparedness," Defence Minister Arun Jaitley admitted in New Delhi on 30 August. Following opinions from the Attorney General and the federal Law Ministry, Jaitley said the MoD had "eased up" on blacklisted defence companies that had already supplied equipment.
