Brazil set to test Camcopter S-100 UAV

Austria's Schiebel is scheduled to test its Camcopter S-100 rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in Brazil from 2-5 June. The system was shortlisted by the Brazilian Navy for its VANT-E naval UAV project together with the Boeing/lnsitu ScanEagle fixed-wing system. The latter was tested by the Brazilian Navy in February 2014 from its Apa (P121) offshore patrol vessel. Navy officials are looking to procure 10 systems in two separate tranches, with the first by 2015 and second by 2023, a spokesperson for the service's General Directorate for Naval Equipment told IMS Jane's on 16 May.
