The US Army would like to upgrade its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with new technology, officials said during a 13 October press briefing at the Association of the United States Army's (AUSA's) annual conference in Washington, DC. "If you ask me to look out beyond the horizon I will tell you I think probably of great interest is assured position navigation and timing, anti-jam, the integrity of our data, and communications links," said Colonel Courtney Cote, project manager for unmanned aircraft systems at the army's programme executive office for aviation. Col Cote added that the army also needs smaller and more energy-efficient systems.
