Brazilian Navy's combat ship programme survives budget cuts

Despite budget difficulties, the Brazilian Navy is maintaining its plan to buy 11 surface combat ships to modernise its fleet, a service spokesperson has told IHS Jane's. The PROSUPER programme includes plans to buy five 6,000-tonne escorts, five 1,800-tonne offshore patrol vessels, and one 24,000-tonne logistics support ship.
